  • 1 liter water Approximately 4 cups.
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil For frying.
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon starch If necessary.

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare the Ingredients: You can use either young or old cabbage for this recipe.
  2. Prep the Rice: Pour boiling water over the round grain rice and let it steep for 10 minutes. Drain the rice after steeping.
  3. Blend the Veggies: In a blender, grind the young cabbage, grated carrot, and chopped onion until finely chopped.
  4. Combine Everything: In a large bowl, combine the minced meat, drained rice, blended vegetables, and season with salt and pepper. If using old cabbage, add an egg to help hold the mixture together.
  5. Shape the Rolls: Wet your hands with cold water and shape the mixture into small rolls or patties.
Cooking
  1. Cook the Rolls: Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the cabbage rolls for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  2. Make the Sauce: In a mixing bowl, blend together the tomato paste, sour cream, and about one glass of water until smooth. Pour this sauce over the cabbage rolls, add the bay leaf, and bring it to a gentle simmer.
  3. Simmer: Cover the frying pan and let the rolls cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Serve Hot: Serve the cabbage rolls hot, garnished with fresh dill or parsley.

Notes

Serve cabbage rolls with a salad or creamy mashed potatoes. Adding fresh herbs like dill or parsley enhances flavor.
