Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350℉ (180℃). Spray a 9x13 pan with nonstick spray and line with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the ends.
- In a medium bowl, toss the sliced apples with lime juice, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ground cloves, and a pinch of salt. Stir gently and set aside.
Crust/Topping
- In a large bowl, melt the salted butter. Stir in flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and granulated sugar.
- Reserve 2 cups of the crust mixture for topping and press the rest into the prepared pan.
Assembly and Baking
- Spoon the apple mixture evenly over the crust, leaving behind any excess liquid.
- Sprinkle the reserved crust mixture on top.
- Bake for 38 to 45 minutes until the topping is golden and apples are tender.
Serving
- Allow the bars to cool on a wire rack for about 1-2 hours before slicing.
- Slice and drizzle with salted caramel before serving.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
Notes
Caramel can be made up to 3 days ahead and stored in the refrigerator. Bars can be made ahead, cooled at room temperature, and then refrigerated until serving. They can be enjoyed warm, at room temperature, or cold.
