Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary (chopped) Plus extra for topping
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced or grated)
  • 1 tbsp sugar or honey
  • 2 tsp dry yeast
Wet Ingredients
  • ¾ cup warm water (about 43°C)

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, chopped rosemary, minced garlic, sugar or honey, and dry yeast. Stir until well combined.
  2. Pour the warm water into the bowl and mix together until it forms a sticky dough.
  3. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rest at room temperature for about 1 hour.
  4. Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F) while the dough is rising.
  5. Line a baking tray with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  6. Once the dough has risen, gently transfer it to the prepared baking tray and flatten into a round or oval shape.
  7. Sprinkle extra chopped rosemary and a pinch of salt on top of the dough.
Baking
  1. Place the flatbread in the oven and bake for about 20 minutes, until golden brown and the edges are crisp.
  2. Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for about 5 minutes.
  3. Cut into wedges or strips and enjoy warm.

Notes

For added flavor, dip in olive oil, layer with toppings, or serve with soups and salads. Can substitute all-purpose flour with whole wheat or spelt flour for a nuttier taste.
