  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon cinnamon (5 g)
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon cornstarch (8 g)
For the crust
  • 2 cans 2 cans of cinnamon rolls (about 450 g total) These will serve as both the bottom and top crust.

Method

Preparation

  2. Peel and slice the Granny Smith apples into thin pieces and place them in a mixing bowl.
  3. Add the sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch to the bowl of apples and stir everything together until well coated.
  4. Open the cans of cinnamon rolls and cut each roll in half. Lightly dust a work surface with flour and roll out each half until thin.

  7. Roll out the remaining cinnamon rolls similarly and place them on top of the apples to form a closed crust, sealing any holes with your fingers.
Baking
  1. Cover the pie with aluminum foil and bake for 35 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes uncovered to achieve a golden-brown color.
  3. Let the pie cool before drizzling the icing from the cinnamon roll cans over the top.
Serving
  1. Slice the pie into generous pieces and serve warm or at room temperature.
  2. Optionally serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

You can mix in other apple varieties like Honeycrisp or Fuji for added sweetness and texture. Consider adding chopped nuts or raisins to the apple mixture for added crunch.
