Ingredients
  

For the dough and filling
  • 2 potatoes 2 potatoes (boiled and mashed) Boiled until tender
  • 1 ml 150 ml milk
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon salt
  • 120 g 120 g grated cheese Use your preferred cheese for flavor
  • 200 g 200 g cream
  • 125 g 125 g all-purpose flour Sifted
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon baking powder
For the toppings
  • 120 ml 120 ml tomato sauce
  • 240 g 240 g canned hearts of palm (sliced)
  • 180 g 180 g mozzarella cheese (grated)
  • 1 slices Calabrese sausage (thinly sliced) For decoration
  • 1 tomato 1 tomato (sliced) For decoration
  • to taste Green onions (chopped for garnish)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Boil the potatoes until tender, then drain, peel, and mash them while warm. Set aside to cool slightly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, margarine, and salt until smooth.
  3. Add the mashed potatoes, grated cheese, and cream. Mix well to combine.
  4. Sift in the all-purpose flour and baking powder, and stir gently until the mixture forms a smooth, soft dough.
Assembly
  1. Grease a baking dish with margarine or oil. Pour in half of the potato dough mixture and spread evenly.
  2. Spread the tomato sauce over the dough base. Add the sliced hearts of palm on top, followed by a generous layer of grated mozzarella cheese.
  3. Pour the remaining potato dough mixture over the filling, spreading it evenly to cover. Decorate with slices of Calabrese sausage and sliced tomato.
Baking
  1. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30 to 35 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
  2. Let it cool for 10 minutes, garnish with green onions, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

This pie pairs beautifully with a simple green salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal experience. You can prepare it in advance and refrigerate it, reheating it before serving for the best texture.
