Ingredients
  

For the Apple Filling
  • 10 cups all-purpose apples, peeled, cored, and sliced Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for best flavor.
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 cup water To keep the apples moist.
For the Topping
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 cup butter, melted

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Making the Apple Filling
  1. Place the sliced apples in a 9x13-inch (23x33 cm) baking dish.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the white sugar, 1 tablespoon of flour, and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the apples.
  3. Pour the water over the apples to keep them moist during baking.
Making the Topping
  1. In a large bowl, combine the quick-cooking oats, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda.
  2. Add the melted butter to the dry ingredients and mix with a fork until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  3. Sprinkle this crumbly topping evenly over the apple mixture in the baking dish.
Baking
  1. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes, or until the apple filling is bubbling and the top is golden brown and crisp.
  2. Once done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Apple Crisp is best served warm, with ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
