Ingredients
  

Apples
  • 6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) Choose firm or sweet apples based on preference.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Helps to balance the sweetness of the apples.
For the Topping
  • 1 cup brown sugar Divided into half for two uses.
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Optional spices for added flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice and half of the brown sugar. Spread this mixture evenly in a greased baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, mix the oats, flour, remaining brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Once combined, pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle the oatmeal mixture over the apples evenly to create a delicious topping.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
Serving
  1. Serve warm, preferably topped with a scoop of ice cream for an extra special treat!
