Ingredients

Fried Cake Ingredients
  • 1 piece apple (peeled, cored, and chopped)
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • to taste vanilla sugar
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil For mixing and greasing hands
  • 1 pinch fine salt
  • 3/4 cup natural yogurt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 3/4 cups cake flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 pinch cinnamon powder For flavoring
  • as needed snack frying oil For frying
  • to taste powdered sugar For dusting

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by peeling, coring, and cutting the apple into small pieces.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the whole egg, granulated sugar, and a sprinkle of vanilla sugar. Add the extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of fine salt, stirring until everything is combined.
  3. Mix in the natural yogurt and continue whisking until smooth. Pour in the milk and give it a good stir.
  4. Gradually sift in the cake flour and baking powder. Stir vigorously until all the ingredients are well mixed together.
  5. Grease your hands lightly with a little olive oil to prevent sticking. Take a spoonful of the dough and roll it into a small sausage shape.
Cooking
  1. In a frying pan, heat the snack frying oil over medium heat until hot.
  2. Carefully place the cake sausages in the pan using tongs and fry them until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
Serving
  1. In a separate dish, combine powdered sugar and a pinch of cinnamon powder. Roll the fried cakes in this mixture to coat evenly.
  2. Transfer the fried cakes to a serving plate and enjoy!

Notes

These fried cakes are delicious when served warm. Consider dusting with extra powdered sugar or pairing with honey, maple syrup, or yogurt.
