Natural Bay Leaf Tincture for Cholesterol Support

This traditional remedy combines bay leaf, lemon, and honey to create a natural drink that may support cardiovascular health. Bay leaves contain beneficial compounds that have been used in folk medicine for generations. This simple three-ingredient preparation is designed to be consumed before bedtime for five consecutive nights.

Ingredients

For the Bay Leaf Tincture:

  • 8 large bay leaves, dried
  • 300ml / 10 fl oz / 1.25 cups water

For Each Nightly Drink:

  • 150ml / 5 fl oz / 2/3 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons bay leaf tincture
  • Juice of half a lemon (approximately 2 tablespoons / 30ml / 1 fl oz)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (15ml / 0.5 fl oz)

Instructions

Prepare the Bay Leaves

Using scissors or a knife, cut 8 large dried bay leaves into the smallest possible pieces. The finer the pieces, the more compounds will be extracted. Transfer the chopped bay leaves to a clean glass jar.

Boil the Water

Measure 300ml of water and bring it to a full boil in a pot on the stove.

Create the Initial Infusion

Pour the boiling water over the chopped bay leaves in the jar, filling to the top. Close the lid tightly and shake gently to distribute the leaves throughout the water.

Double-Boil Method

Place a cloth at the bottom of a larger pot. Set the closed jar with bay leaves on top of the cloth. Pour water into the pot until it reaches the same level as the liquid inside the jar. Bring the water in the pot to a boil, then reduce heat to maintain a gentle simmer. Let this cook for 1 hour.

Final Boil

After 1 hour, increase the heat briefly to bring the tincture to one final boil for just a few minutes.

Cool and Strain

Carefully remove the jar using a cloth or tongs. Allow the tincture to cool at room temperature for at least 2 hours. Once cooled, strain the liquid through a fine-mesh strainer into a clean glass jar, discarding the bay leaf pieces. Store the strained tincture in the refrigerator with a tight lid.

Prepare the Nightly Drink

Each evening before bed, measure 150ml of water. Add 3 tablespoons of the bay leaf tincture. Squeeze the juice from half a lemon into the mixture. Add 1 tablespoon of honey and stir well until the honey dissolves completely.

Consumption Protocol

Drink one glass of this mixture before bedtime for 5 consecutive nights. After the 5-night course, discontinue use.

Why This Recipe Is Used

Bay leaves contain polyphenols, tannins, vitamin A, vitamin C, and minerals including potassium, iron, and magnesium. These compounds act as antioxidants that may help protect cells from oxidative stress. Some traditional medicine systems have used bay leaf preparations to support cardiovascular health. Lemon provides additional vitamin C and antioxidants, while honey has been used traditionally to support overall wellness. The combination of these three ingredients creates a pleasant-tasting drink that is easy to consume. However, it’s important to note that while these ingredients contain beneficial compounds, they should complement rather than replace a heart-healthy diet, regular exercise, and medical care for cholesterol management.

While bay leaves contain antioxidants and have been studied for potential health benefits, scientific evidence for significant cholesterol reduction is limited.
