Ingredients

For the Patties

  • 3 medium sweet potatoes (1.5 lbs/700g)
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • ¾ cup (90g) chickpea flour
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ cup (15g) nutritional yeast
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • Olive oil spray for baking

For the Creamy Dip

  • 6 tablespoons (90ml) dairy-free yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons plant-based mayo
  • 2 tablespoons oat milk
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • ½ tablespoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare Sweet Potatoes

  1. Peel and slice sweet potatoes
  2. Steam for 10-15 minutes until tender
  3. Test with fork for doneness
  4. Drain thoroughly

2. Prepare Aromatics

  1. Dice onion finely
  2. Heat small pan over medium heat
  3. Sauté onion until translucent
  4. Add minced garlic and cumin seeds
  5. Cook 1 minute until fragrant

3. Create Patty Mixture

  1. In large bowl:
  • Mash steamed sweet potatoes
  • Add sautéed aromatics
  • Mix until combined
  1. In separate bowl, whisk:
  • Chickpea flour
  • Baking powder
  • Nutritional yeast
  • Paprika
  • Ground cumin
  • Salt
  1. Combine wet and dry ingredients
  2. Refrigerate 20 minutes

4. Form and Bake Patties

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C)
  2. Line baking sheet with parchment
  3. Form 2.5oz (70g) patties
  4. Place on prepared sheet
  5. Spray with olive oil
  6. Bake 20 minutes, flipping halfway

5. Make the Dip

  1. Combine in bowl:
  • Dairy-free yogurt
  • Plant-based mayo
  • Oat milk
  • Lemon juice
  1. Stir in:
  • Chopped dill
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper
