- 2/3 cup warm milk (160 ml)
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup butter, softened (115 g)
- 1 egg, beaten (for brushing)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the warm water with the yeast and a teaspoon of the sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture, warm milk, eggs, and softened butter to the dry ingredients.
- Mix until a soft dough forms, then knead by hand or with a mixer for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions. Shape each portion into a smooth ball.
- Arrange the dough balls in a greased baking pan, leaving small spaces between them.
- Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
- Remove from the oven and brush with a little melted butter if desired. Serve warm.
