Sugar-Free Energy Bars

Sugar-free energy bars made with natural ingredients for a healthy snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups (80 g) oat flakes
  • 1 cup (150 g) raisins
  • ½ cup (80 g) walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup (150 g) dried apricots, chopped
  • 1 medium banana, mashed
  • 5.6 oz (160 g) dark chocolate (sugar-free)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine oat flakes, raisins, chopped walnuts, chopped dried apricots, and mashed banana. Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated and cohesive.
  2. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Press the energy bar mixture firmly into a mold placed on the tray.
  3. Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F). Bake the mixture in the oven for approximately 20 minutes or until set.
  4. While the bars are baking, melt the dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl or a double boiler. Once melted, stir in the vegetable oil to achieve a smooth, glossy texture.
  5. Once baked, allow the bars to cool completely. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cooled bars, ensuring even coverage. Place the tray in the refrigerator for about 40 minutes to set the chocolate.
  6. Cut the bars into desired sizes and enjoy as a nutritious snack or sweet treat.
