  • 2 cups Chicken Broth (480 milliliters)
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube or 1 teaspoon Better Than Bouillon (optional)
  • 1 cup milk (240 milliliters)
  • 1/3 teaspoon celery salt (1 gram)
  • 1/3 teaspoon onion powder (1 gram)
  • 1/3 teaspoon garlic powder (1 gram)
  • 1/3 teaspoon salt (2 grams)
  • 1/3 teaspoon pepper (1 gram)

Directions:

Temper the milk by microwaving it for 45 seconds. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until fully melted and foaming, about 3 minutes. Gradually add the flour, whisking continuously for 3-5 minutes until it’s the consistency of wet sand. Remove from heat. Add 1/3 of the chicken broth and whisk well, then add another 1/3 and whisk again. Add the remaining chicken broth, chicken bouillon, warm milk, and seasonings, whisking continuously. Return to heat and bring to a near boil, continuing to whisk until it thickens. Immediately remove from heat. For a super smooth consistency, run the mixture through a fine mesh strainer. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 4 months.
